Day 01: New Delhi

The dream journey of Palace on wheels begins with a traditional Indian welcome accorded before check in at the Delhi cant railway station. Once the check formalities have been completed, you will acquaint yourself with the fellow travellers.

Dinner will be served on board the luxury Palace on Wheels in any of the two restaurants. Overnight on Palace on wheels.

Day 02: Arrival Jaipur

Wake up with the sunrise at Jaipur, the capital city of the royal state of Rajasthan. The city has been named after the founder Maharaj Sawai Jai Singh II who founded the city around 1727 and has rich history and culture. The city's bustling bazaars are very popular among tourists for their colourful handicrafts, jewellery and textile. There are some very popular historical monuments, forts and palaces in the city.

The tour begins with a visit to Hawa Mahal palace or the palace of winds and then we will continue to visit Jantar Mantar and city palace, the home of erstwhile rulers.

We will then proceed to Amber Fort, the ancient capital of the region. Lunch will be arranged here before we explore the fort.

Jaipur is also a shopper's paradise and offers many options. It is famous for gems and jewellery, textile and arts and handicrafts.

Day 03: Sawai Madhopur

Today we reach Sawai Madhopur early in the morning. On arrival you will embark on a jungle safari in open top jeeps / Canters into the Ranthambhore National Park. The main attraction of the park is the Royal Bengal Tiger. Some other attractions include Hyena, wild boar, jackal, chinkara, leopard, sambar, nilgai, chital and sloth bear.

Returning from the park you board your train depart on the day journey to Chittorgarh, once home to the Mewar dynasty. Today you will enjoy a sound and light show at the fort. Dinner and overnight on board the Luxury Palace on wheels.

Day 04: Udaipur

Wake up in the most romantic city of India, surrounded by the Arravali range of hills. The city is an enchanting image of white marble palaces, placid lakes and green hills and is a dream destination for a discerning traveler. The city has many manmade beautiful lakes, forts and palaces some of which are architectural wonders of the region.

The city tour begins with a visit to Sahelion Ki bari or the garden of maids and then we visit City palace before heading for lunch at a palace hotel. After lunch we visit the crystal gallery before enjoying the sunset boat cruise on the serene waters of Lake Pichola.

During the sightseeing you will be allowed time for shopping.

Return to the luxury palace on wheels for overnight journey.

Day 05: Jaisalmer

Rawal Jaisal, a Bhati clan Rajput founded the golden city of Jaisalmer in 1156 which lies in the heart of Thar Desert. The city which fell in the route of ancient Persian and Egyptian traders is picture of marvellous cultures and customs in the harsh climatic conditions. The city is known for its mansions or havelis owned the by traders community of ancient times. Some of the popular ones are - Nathmalji ki haveli, Patwon ki haveli, Salim singh ki Haveli etc.

Lunch will be organized at local restaurant before heading into the samm sandunes where you will have the chance to enjoy the traditional folk music and dances of the region along with evening tea.

Dinner will be organized at a palace hotel before heading back to the luxury moving palace on wheels.

Day 06: Jodhpur

Jodhpur, the former capital of Marwar is known for its indigo colour homes and buildings. It is the second largest city in the royal state of Rajasthan and is a popular tourist's destination as it has many mighty forts, palaces and mansions of the Rajput era. Some the main attractions of Jodhpur are Mehrangarh Fort and Umaid Bhawan palace. Umaid Bhawan Palace has now been converted into a luxury 5 star hotel.

Today the day begins with a visit to Mehrangarh Fort. You will then visit the walled city and where you will have some free time for shopping.

After lunch at a palace hotel, you will return to the palace on wheels to begin your onward journey.

Day 07: Bharatpur - Agra

Arise with sun at Bharatpur, a popular destination for bird watchers. The Bharatpur bird sanctuary, also known as Keoladeo Biard Sanctuary is one of the finest in the world.

We will set out on a short visit to watch some birds in the sanctuary on a cycle rickshaw. The sanctuary is nesting place for many migratory birds.

On return we will proceed to Agra, the city famous for Taj Mahal, a monument dedicated for eternal love. Agra is also known for its splendid marble inlay work like the Pietra Dura work on the Taj, jewellery leather and goods.

On arrival at Agra we will proceed to visit Taj Mahal, a monument well worth its fame and glory. The breathtakingly beautiful mausoleum is the greatest gesture of love in the history of mankind. Emperor Shah Jahan built this memorial in memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. It is one of the most beautiful monuments in the world and a must for the visit for the first time travellers.

Lunch will be organized at a hotel.

Late evening board the luxury palace on wheels train for the last stage of the this wonderful journey.

Day 08: Arrival / Delhi

Finally it's time to say good bye to the moving luxury palace on wheels with some wonderful memories.

The Palace on Wheels departs from New Delhi and during its eight day journey, travels around the colourful Rajasthan with stops in Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Sawai Madhopur, Chittaurgarh, Udaipur, Bharatpur, and Amazing Agra.

The Palace on Wheels was first luxury train in India. It was launched by the Indian Railways to promote tourism in Rajasthan. The Palace on Wheels was started on January 26, India's Republic Day, in 1982, and has been highly popular since its launch.

Palace On Wheels has 14 fully air-conditioned luxurious cabins, wall to wall carpeting, a well stocked bar, and a very personalized service.
